I've recently been chattin it up with Canadian artist
Fantohm. He is currently doing a tour here in the states and has dropped a new mixtape as well. Mr. Fantohm was kind enough to do a short Q and A with Tapekiller before he kicked off his stateside tour, we discuss a bit about his mask, his style, and discover that the United States may have a serious party monster on its hands, read on....
TAPEKILLER says: First off whats the deal with the mask, do you wear it to all your gigs?
FANTOHM says: Yeah, every time I wear a mask to make my music fit with my apearance I mean the visual in show most of the time I wear till the end but when I get too drunk sometimes I throw it in the crowd.
TAPEKILLER says: Ha ha! Nice! Describe to me what can people expect to hear in a typical Fantohm set?
FANTOHM says: Fantohm is mostly scary electronic music
hard bass + fuck up drum cuts. When I mix I try to make people feel like there in a haunted house alone on extasy and something tells you ''booh....are you scared???''
TAPEKILLER says: So how many dates you got on your tour? and where are you gonna be at?
FANTOHM says: Nashville , Atlanta, Jacksonville , Memphis, Philly and Pittsburgh. Trying to fix somethin in Chicago and L.A.
but nothing is sure right now.
TAPEKILLER says: So your from Canada would this be your first time in the United States?
FANTOHM says: Yeah! Never been in the states before
most of my mates tell me you guys are freakin crazy when partying!
But I bet they're not as crazy as I am.
TAPEKILLER says: I've never been to the East Coast so I dunno how they party over there, but down here we get live! What part of Canada are you from?
FANTOHM says: I'm from the Northern territory in Canada...an unknown town called ''Rad'' ( well lets call it rad ).
TAPEKILLER says: Rad it is then, so aside from your latest mixtape, what else are you working on?
FANTOHM says: Got a bunch of tracks that are released to people who are down to push them for themselves, I don't try to get deals, I rather give out them for free, and get money mixin and makin people flip over my shit.
TAPEKILLER says: So how long you've been djing/producing?
FANTOHM says: I've been producing since I was 17. I was doin beats for rappers in Canada and they fawked it all up! I mean those beats had vibes
and they got scraped up.
TAPEKILLER says: Well man I wanna thank you for taking the time to chat, much luck and fun times on your gigs. Any last words you want to leave us with?
FANTOHM says: Like I always tell people before I leave there club.....BOOH !!!! Are you scared ???
